On number seven we find, the movie se7en, an appropriate place for this great motion picture. If you want to see this movie, we have to warn you, it’s quite horrific. The plot is about two detectives (Brad Pitt and Morgan Freeman) who are looking for a serial killer. This sick individual murders people in a way that relates to the seven sins. A sensational and exciting movie!

6. One Flew over the Cuckoos Nest

This is a relatively old movie, it’s from 1975. However it’s a classic and therefore still very interesting to watch. A young Jack Nicholson plays the leading character. He is a petty criminal who, in order to stay out of jail, fakes a mental illness. He is send to a psychiatric hospital, where he meets all kinds of strange human beings. Not only the patients, the nurses and doctors are also quite disturbing. He leads a rebellion together with the other mental patients against the mean employees of the hospital. With the use of jokes he disturbs the daily routines of the psychiatric hospital. The movie is very funny but at the same time also full of drama, which makes it quite extraordinary. The end is also unforgettable. Jack Nicholson is truly outstanding, a brilliant performance. His natural charisma makes him well-suited for this part.

5. The Shawshank Redemption  

This is one of the best films ever made. It has won numerous prices. It was voted the best film ever made for example! The story is about a man who goes to prison after he is accused of murdering his wife and her lover. When he arrives in the prison, a lot of the other inmates think he will lose his mind, because he can’t handle the tough prison conditions. However, after a while he earns the respect of numerous other inmates and even develops some special friendships. The film is full of drama but uplifting at the same time. It’s truly a unique movie that you have to watch before you can truly appreciate it’s content. Morgan Freeman plays one of the leading characters and has a magnificent performance.

4. The Dark Knight

Maybe you don’t expect a film about superheroes in this list, however this one is brilliant. Of course Batman already has a much darker and more interesting persona than a lot of the other superheroes. In this movie, this is even more pronounced than in other films. The action scenes and performances of the actors are also much better than in your average action film. Christian Bale, one of the best actors in the world, plays Batman. However, the person that steals the show in this epic movie is most definitely Heath Leger. He is truly mesmerizing with a brilliant performance as the Joker, Batman’s archenemy. He got an Oscar for his performance. Sadly, he died just before the premier of the movie. The Dark Knight also has plenty of interesting plot twists, combined with the spectacular action, it’s certainly worth watching.

3. Goodfellas

This is another epic motion picture you have to see, absolutely one of the best movies of all time. Martin Scorsese is the director. He is one of the best directors of all time. He made numerous excellent gangster films, however this is undoubtedly the best one. The movie tells the story of Henry Hill. This is a real person and most of the events in the film are based on his life. In the beginning we meet Henry when he is just a small boy, he does little jobs for the mafia and eventually he becomes an important criminal in the organization. In the beginning you will see a glamorous portrayal of all the mobsters. They have all the cash and money in the world, and no one can harm them. However, after a while we see the downside of the gangster lifestyle and all the horror that it brings. Joe Pesci plays Tommy DeVito, a crazy criminal with no remorse, an excellent performance.

2. Forrest Gump

Unique and touching, that is the way to describe this movie. Tom Hanks plays a retard, who lives in the south of the United States. While he is not so clever, he still has tremendous impact on the world and meets all kinds of significant historical figures. The movie shows that Elvis Presley’s iconic ways of dancing was actually inspired by Forrest Grump. Eventually he acquires a group of followers that follow him where ever he goes! The movie is funny but also touching, which makes it quite unique. You have to see this one!

1. Lord of the Rings: The Fellowship of the Ring

The first part of a magnificent trilogy. It is an astounding story, based on the books of J.R.R. Tolkien. Not only is the story very entertaining, the special effects and landscapes are also breath-taking. The performances of the actors are also magnificent. Furthermore the soundtrack of the motion picture is one to never forget. The story follows a hobbit who has to throw the ring of Sauron in a volcano in order to destroy it. The wizard Gandalf, Gimli the dwarf and Legolas the elf are there to help him.
